FAQ

The Gbawe Alokoto Street Art Festival is a vibrant community-driven celebration of street art, music, dance, and Ga cultural elements. It aims to unite the community, celebrate our heritage, and provide a platform for youth creativity.

The festival kicked off on August 27, 2022, at the Gbawe Chief Palace Road, as part of the larger Gbawe Homowo celebrations, marking a significant moment in local cultural events.

One exciting aspect is a community health walk that connects various neighborhoods. This initiative promotes wellness and community spirit, emphasizing the festival's commitment to not just entertainment but also health and unity.

The festival expanded internationally, with an Alokoto Diaspora Edition for Guyana in 2024-2025. This initiative fosters cultural exchange and reinforces a shared heritage between Africa and the Caribbean.
